Hospitality provides a strong foundation for Santa Fe economy with active industries supporting tourism, hotels and restaurants, and the arts and recreation.  Health, education, and real estate are also thriving economic bases here, and many small businesses find a firm foothold in the city and county.  Moreover, government and civic leaders have put forth economic development plans that build from existing strengths and focus on the collaboration with and development of business clusters in several technological areas, including innovative biotech/biomedical, information, and environmental technologies. 

Major Employers

By far, Los Alamos National Laboratory is the largest employer in the area.  Other major employers include: the City of Santa Fe, the State of New Mexico, and the U.S. Government; St. Vincent’s Hospital; and the Santa Fe Public Schools. 

Volunteering
